Asbestos Lung Cancer Support:
In these difficult times many people come closer to God. Most mesothelioma
cancer hospitals have a spiritual advisor in residence. Feel free
to contact the Chaplain, Pastor, Priest, or other spiritual advisor
to seek spiritual strength in these difficult times. We found the
following quite moving and hope it give you strength.
What Mesothelioma Cannot Do:
- it cannot cripple love
- It cannot shatter hope.
- It cannot corrode Faith
- It cannot destroy Peace.
- It cannot kill Friendship
- It cannot suppress Memories
- It cannot silence Courage
- It cannot invade the Soul
- It cannot steal Eternal Life
- It cannot conquer the Spirit.
A mesothelioma
diagnosis as with other cancers, often has a devastating effect
on both the patient and there loved ones. It is, therefore, essential
for most patients and their families to obtain as much support
as possible in coping with the disease. In the Mesothelioma
Support section we discuss:
Psychological
Assistance for Mesothelioma Patients:
Many persons diagnosed with mesothelioma are reluctant to seek
help from psychologists or psychiatrists because they perceive
this as a sign of weakness or because they are not aware of the
benefits of such counseling.
Psychological assistance however,
has proved to be an invaluable tool in helping persons cope with
mesothelioma. Therefore at the very least, mesothelioma patients
and their families should explore available counseling and support
networks.
Most people with cancer and their families find themselves from time to time in need of assistance in handling the many logistical and emotional issues that can arise after Mesothelioma diagnosis, such as choosing a physician, deciding on a treatment, covering unexpected expenses , coping with physical pain, side effects and grief. The National Cancer Institute has compiled a list of some of the national organizations that provide various types of support. Support groups within your own community can also be a good place to find first-hand information about other person's coping methods as well as local resources. Hospice (at home care for the terminally ill) services are also available in most communities. Hospice care is covered by many insurance policies, but if it is not covered by your policy, most hospices will provide assistance to the mesothelioma patients by using funds donated by the community or from memorial or foundation gifts.
